background: Associates with cyclin G and CDK5. Seems to act as an auxilin homolog that is involved in the uncoating of clathrin-coated vesicles by Hsc70 in non-neuronal cells. Expression oscillates slightly during the cell cycle, peaking at G1. Tissue specificity: Ubiquitous. Highest in testis. Function: Associates with cyclin G and CDK5. Subcellular Location: Cytoplasm, perinuclear region. Golgi apparatus, trans-Golgi network. Cell junction, focal adhesion (Probable). Note=Localizes to the perinuclear area and to the trans-Golgi network. Also seen on the plasma membrane, probably at focals adhesions. Tissue Specificity: Ubiquitous. Highest in testis. Similarity: Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. Ser/Thr protein kinase family. Contains 1 C2 tensin-type domain. Contains 1 J domain. Contains 1 phosphatase tensin-type domain.
